Many graduates and non-graduates alike may be taking the summer months out to relax and travel before diving into job searching for the autumn period - so seize the opportunity. The recruitment drive never stops: Despite the fact that summertime is perceived as the ‘slow period’ in workplaces, that does not equate to halting the uptake of new exciting recruits. Do not fear of any slowdown, if an opening is available, the company will not wait to get talented individuals in.

Lack of competition: Many people take time out of the summer to pursue their own personal endeavours. Therefore those who operate on the assumption that the summer is less fruitful for recruitment remove themselves from the possibility of being hired in that season. This leaves a void where your application and determination can stand out. 

Holidays are to be expected: Annual leave is the norm during the summer, so don’t worry about your pre-existing holiday plans excluding you from landing a new job. For this reason it is best to make arrangements with prospective employers within the thick of the workflow, such as the start of the week as many individuals will be preparing for the weekend or annual leave towards the end of the week.

Networking season: There are lots of networking events in the summer months, this is a great way to meet potential employers and seek out job opportunities. Making contacts in the industry can lead to lots of open doors.
