Our illustrated guide to dressing for success part 2

10 Jun 2019

Last month we shared our illustrated guide for dressing for success for the gents. Now it’s the ladies turn - here’s our illustrated dress code to look the part at your next job interview.

Business Interview:

- Hair: Neatly styled, if long then tie back or style away from the face.

- Jacket: A dark coloured or grey fitted suit jacket, matching the skirt or trousers.

 - Shirt: A light, neutral solid colour shirt, always tucked in, or sensible blouse with conservative neckline.

- Trousers/Skirt: Pressed and appropriate length trousers, or below the knee pencil skirt.

- Shoes: Smart, well polished shoes, flats or small heels.

Accessories: Minimal, plain jewellery - no statement pieces. A smart, small handbag or briefcase.

Casual Interview:

- Hair: Neatly styled away from the face, not frizzy or unmanageable.

- Jacket/Cardigan: A plain, smart jacket or cardigan, try matching with another part of the outfit (shoes or handbag).

- Blouse/Top: A light coloured shirt, or sensible blouse with conservative neckline. Can be slightly bolder with colours and patterns but nothing too distracting.

Trousers/Skirt: Smart dark denim, khaki, gabardine or cotton pants, neatly pressed. Skirts should be appropriate length (ideally below the knee).

- Shoes: Smart, clean and presentable shoes, flats or small heels. Avoid trainers, boots, or open-toe shoes.

Accessories: A little more relaxed, nothing too distracting. A plain, small handbag.
