The importance of decluttering for 2018

26 Dec 2017

As the New Year approaches, the 1st team are spending valuable time with loved ones and switching off. However, we are also preparing for a new business year by decluttering. Some may think this is unnecessary & can be kick started on return to work, but the benefits of preparing mentally & physically in advance really are unquestionable. Decluttering doesn’t have to be a monumental task. Here are 3 simple ways to get ahead of the game for 2018..…..

1. Declutter your headspace

Buy a 2018 planner & use it! Declutter your mind by writing things down. Write down your thoughts, lists and goals for the year. This doesn’t mean you have to do it now! But means you are already working towards something even when you relax. In fact it will help you relax, knowing that you have a clear plan of action when you return to work.

2. Declutter your workspace

Organise your place of work to get work done. Too much mess over stimulates the brain meaning your concentration level is depleted. Get rid of anything that doesn’t help you to complete your work. If you don’t use it, it doesn’t need to be there, simple. File and organise paperwork & do the equivalent on your computer. Email inboxes quickly use up capacity, & no-one wants a full mailbox to start the year…

3. Actually do something that makes you feel GOOD!

Feeling properly relaxed when you return to work is the best start you can have. So do something that you know will make you feel good over the Christmas break. Something you never have time to do in a working week. Whether it’s something special like a short getaway with a loved one, exercise or simply sitting down to read a book. Make the most of your time off. Something that is even easier when you have nailed the above.
