On the long journey of a career, it can be hard to continue to motivate yourself or strive for progression. Summer is a great time to put some oomph back into your job, here are our top tips. 

• Decide what you want: It is important to know what you want, to give you direction and drive. Think openly and honestly about your current career, and write down what you like and dislike along with your strengths and weaknesses. This way you can work towards eliminating the negative aspects through training or specialising into an area you have expertise in and (importantly) enjoy. 

• Work towards a promotion: Having a clear career goal such as a promotion is a great way to instill productivity. Adapting and gaining more responsibility is a sure way to keep you on your toes. If you have a skillset missing that you need to get to the next level, start working on rectifying this.  

• Look for a new project/client: Is there a company or project you’d love to work with / on? Reach out! Whatever industry you are in, working on something new that you are passionate about will always inspire you. Summer is the perfect time to network and meet other professionals, so attend some networking events and discover some potential new opportunities. 

• Rethink your CV and professional profile: Sometimes, refreshing your career means getting a new job. You grow and develop professionally from contrasting experiences, working with a diverse range of people and new environments. Have a look at your CV. If you haven’t updated it since you took your current job, it’s time to sort it out. Pay attention to your online presence.
