Graduate jobs

Getting your first job is a monumental experience but can also be stressful.  Many entry-level job seekers leave school or university having studied for an extended period without direction of what next. Here’s some key qualities you will need for your job hunt.

  • Communication skills. Having the ability to communicate at all levels in business is key. Not only does this cover verbal and listening skills but it also accounts for your standard of written communication. It’s important to be concise in what you’re saying.

  • Organisation. In the world of work it is all about prioritisation and demonstrating efficiency in managing your time well. Employers want to know that you can be trusted to meet deadlines on time and they want to see that you are able to juggle different tasks in the set time.

  • Perseverance. You probably won’t land the first job you go for and you’d be foolish to think that this would be the case. Searching for a job isn't easy, it can be a full-time operation. It’s so important that you don’t give up and are disciplined.

  • Knowledge. Having awareness of how a business runs and knowledge of the industry that you’d like to get into is imperative when it comes to the interview process. Do take work experience opportunities and internships to showcase your dedication and gain valuable experience.
